C&O Towpath Ride - Sept 16-18, 2016 - Day 1 (Part 2)

Day one plan was D.C. to Harpers Ferry.  Of course we had to stop for some cold brew in Brunswick at Smoketown Brewing Station.  The first day was about 60 miles.  We decided to only pack lunch and breakfast -lunch first day was at White's Ferry.  Dinner was going to be out on the town.

C&O Towpath Ride - Sept 16-18, 2016 - Day 2

Harper's Ferry to Hancock, MD - another 60 miles

Second day - ready to go.  Quick breakfast and out on the road.  Really pretty path above Harper's Ferry.  Over Antietam creek - oddly on the anniversary of the Battle of Antietam - Sept 17, 1862.   A lot of blood must have flowed down this creek that day.

We then passed thru Shepherdstown, WV.  Stopped for lunch in Williamsport, MD at the Desert Rose Cafe - a very popular spot for the bike riders.  They love the riders!!  Food was excellent.

Camped that night in Hancock, MD.  Grabed some beer and dinner at the Tri-Angle Restaurant - just up in town off the trail.  Food was really good here as well.

C&O Towpath Ride - Sept 16-18, 2016 - Day 3

Hancock, MD to Cumberland, MD - another 60 + miles.

Last day - camera was nearly out of juice (not film - digital baby!!).  Anyhow - had some cool sights - the Devil's eyebrow, Bills Place, Paw Paw tunnel - ah - and cold beer at the end of the trail.

Cheers!! - on to Pittsburgh on the GAP trail - it connects to the end of this one.  Maybe next time.
